When we were kids out on the ridge Rolling through dust we would laugh With scraped knees through the burdocks wrath. How I wish I could go back As we grow Life grabs hold Swept up by the undertow Love will part the sea And set you free Momentous change is on its way We’ve always had time we’ve had space But we hesitate, it goes to waste Light from inside sparks a flame As we grow Life grabs hold Swept up by the undertow Love will part the sea And set you free

Landlocked 05:21
If you’re the leak in my boat, I’m the tear in your sail If you’re the sea at my shore, I’m the wind in your hair If you’re the taste in my mouth, I’m the smile when you frown If you’re the crack in my glass, I am the spill on the stairs That sent you slipping down, that sent you slipping down You can wait for me and keep yourself landlocked and lost at sea Or, you can run like hell, break for the shoreline and save yourself If I’m the rose in your cheeks, you’re the thorn in my side If I’m the stutter when you speak, maybe you’re the love of my life If I’m the stones at your feet, you’re the mountain I will climb If we are the snow at its peak, we are frozen in time We are frozen in time You can wait for me and keep yourself landlocked and lost at sea Or, you can run like hell, break for the shoreline and save yourself Yeah, I’m moving on I think It’s time I’d be moving along So you can let me go

I'll unfold my map, and set a course We'll travel far, but not from shore to shore. I have built a ship, not for sea or sky Gathered a loyal crew to leave it all behind. I'll put on my driving gloves and buckle up, with the present day I've had enough My machine can take us Wave goodbye and travel time I wanna dance with the natives on Manhattans forest floor Sing to the heavens, feel like I've been here before (Om Namah Shivaya Gurudev) Trek the ancient himalayas, live like a monk, Walk with the Buddha, know the purest forms of love (Hare Rama) Help build the pyramids, maybe find an egyptian wife. (Jai Jai Ma!) There's so many different lives to live My machine can take us Wave goodbye and travel time And now I've arrived, only to find Everything I ever wanted, it had always been mine I've made a grave mistake, lets just go home. I turn to my first mate, he says "Shit, we locked the keys inside..."

The Seed 04:37
The seed was sewn on a hill behind the school yard But it would not grow, old man winter has a heavy heart All I want are roots to break right through the soles of my shoes. In this concrete world even the lowest of weeds has courage to fight for room to breathe A bird in flight swoops down to claim mother natures prize She feeds her fledgling babe, oh, love it comes in winged waves All I want are roots to break right through the soles of my shoes. In this concrete world even the lowest of weeds has courage to fight for room to breathe Strength to conquer city streets From a crack in the sidewalk grows an evergreen This is who I am, I am the seed. We are the seed.

After All 03:59
You and your fast car, c’mon and slow down Pretty little thing caught your eye in her summer gown I saw a sickle shaped moon flying high as Orion’s belt I’m tired, tattered, torn, Oh well, what now? After all your alcohol and one night stands Do you really feel like a man? Like a man? Wipe your hands on that party dress, ooo babe It was a waste of money, anyway Make an escape, perhaps greater than your entrance So fashionably late After all your alcohol and one night stands Who would want to have your hand? Have your hand? My memories of you will always dance to the tune of “Alison, my aim is true”

Choices I’ve made They’ve scared up my name Now, consequence, bitter sweet consequence Is knocking at my door But nobody’s home, no one is home Now I can see the beauty of the in between Options I’ve weighed They all seem the same So, clarity, pristine clarity Is what I’m praying for my lord And, some time on my own, time on my own Now I can see the beauty of the in between, being in between
7.
I’ve been trying to reach you By phone, by song, and by letter The old fashioned way, the old fashioned way Just to let you know Whenever I day dream I see your smiling face I hope it’s not to late I don’t want my love to go to waste Or the spirit that fills my physical space My blood no longer runs cold My heart is full My heart is full I’ve been trapped and lost here And all I see are these endless fields of green But, I know your wolf will keep you warm, As the lion shelters the lamb from the storm And if I don’t reach you in time I will send my regards Hope you find what you’ve been looking for I don’t want my love to go to waste Or the spirit that fills my physical space My blood no longer runs cold My heart is full My heart is full

The Rose 01:35
9.
It’s always a late september afternoon When the summer leaves, it steals the green And I shed my skin. Like always, as usual, a little bird bears good news Everything north of here is frozen over But my worlds on fire If you asked me how I am I’d say “We all look back and laugh, I’ve let go of my past, and here I am. And, If all I have got is you, then I guess I have got it all. I mean what more could I want, or have the nerve to ask for?” Someplace off route 41, there’s a little room half way underground. Where the only sound, so sweet to my ears is the echo of a hymn, so strong it could erase all your fear. And everything north of here is frozen over But my worlds on fire If you asked me how I am I’d say “We all look back and laugh, I’ve let go of my past, and here I am. And, If all I have got is you, then I guess I have got it all. I mean what more could I want, or have the nerve to ask for?” I know I’ve got it all.

Standing straight my back pressed against the frame of an open door. Pencil marks where my height once met dated 1944. Crooked fingers make the dash, “My, how tall you are” Times weren’t so hard I still feel my bare feet on the grass, It’s dusk on swamp road at the family farm. As he lights a cigar, Grandfather laughs. Us cousins chase the cat back behind the barn Where young lovers lips first crossed paths beneath the summer stars. Times weren’t so hard And I would marry in the spring, so young and full of yearning. With a little house to call our own, a ship to sail, the learning. Though we’d bear no children of our own, our house would still be full. Times weren’t so hard Now my heart beats harder against my chest, as this life ends, I could not ask for more. To have had a taste of human breathe, I take a grateful step, back into the spirit form. Where all beings live as one, I am home. Times weren’t so hard Give me love Give me peace Set me free

We’re still clawing over mountain ranges reaching peaks to cross valleys so we can be the children climbing trees while the other kids, they collapse in the streets. The sun and the moon, they hang parallel, never to cross paths. But, they’ll exchange smiles and eye contact, just like you and I. La la la, La la la. Now I’m drinking tea in the place we sang our hearts out every sunday for the last few weeks. Etching memoirs of friendships & revelations into these walls Where they live on, long after where gone, La la la, La la la. A woman falls down at an altar, in all of her beauty and grace she prays “Please lift this suffering and pain from my lover, I can’t bare his weight.” And, I still have the wooden beads she hung round my neck as we mapped them in the stars, so we would never forget our love. We’ll be reminded by the constellations. La la la, La la la. Now we lay in empty open fields like the one where all of this began. Remembering our lives gone past, childhood, Can you see it in the night sky? Where they live on, long after where gone, La la la, La la la.

How can I love you when I know I have to leave you? When everything is a selfish thing and I am far from home. Could never measure my fortune by way of coins by currency, just the riches of experience and these friendships on the road. With a laugh I shed the last of my bitterness We are only spirits born from vapors burn to smoke And I want a love that is not afraid I want to be a friend with intent to stay I want to grow til I can soul perpetuate, and Be where I am Just be where you are Cheap hotels, high rises and fourteen hour drives, you shook my soul but this strange life someone has to keep alive. Never knowing, but always open are these truths I’ve found, so tell it to a stranger, inside we are always homeward bound. With a laugh I shed the last of my bitterness We are only spirits born from vapors burn to smoke And I want a love that is not afraid I want to be a friend with intent to stay I want to grow til I can soul perpetuate, and Be where I am Just be where you are So why don’t you just laugh and shed the last of your bitterness. We are only spirits born from vapors burn to smoke. We are only spirits born from vapors burn to smoke.

We’re born into this world like spilling spools of wool. Fate, she is the cat’s paw, she bats us round, our paths cross. Divide and separate Divide and separate Memories of my youth have been removed like someone tore the page, I don’t know what to do. I’d like to stand at the top of the slide, to be a child again. How I’d love to be a child again. You can try and cut the thread, but the knot, it will be tied again. Aren’t you tired of searching for answers, when all you want is to dance, girl? Dance in the question with me, Won’t you dance in the question with me We’re born into this world like spilling spools of wool. Fate, she is the cat’s paw, she bats us round, our paths cross. Divide and separate Divide and separate You’ve been written into my page You’re the water mark that I can’t erase
